mom and dad snuck in and took this one...

Fast asleep in the big girl bed.

"tiny big girl"

There's been a lot of talk around here about "tiny babies." A few weeks ago we asked Zoe if she's a tiny baby or a big girl and she said "I'm a tiny big girl." It's pretty right-on. Here's the tiny big girl on her first night in her big girl bed. When she first tried it out she deemed it "com-doo-doo" which is how she says "comfortable." She was very excited and couldn't wait to go to bed in it.

lunching at WF with Granny

We usually end up eating lunch at Whole Foods a couple of times a week. This week Granny joined us which was a special treat.

deciding what to order for dinner

It's been such a rainy summer! The other night we tried to walk to a Japanese noodle restaurant but ended up getting stuck in a crazy thunderstorm and never made it to our planned destination. We went for Tapas instead. Zoe loved the patatas bravas which she called "fries" but was also disappointed that she didn't get to have sushi.

birthday parties!

The minute Zoe arrives at a birthday party she asks for cupcakes. This could be considered very anti-social behavior but she seems to have a lot of friends anyhow.

At the Met

Zoe loves this room of the Met -though she really didn't like any of the exhibits we wanted to see so we really didn't see much on this trip.

Zoe's Zoo interview

I haven't put video on the blog before (though we have tons of videos if anyone wants to sit through them!). I usually look at them and think they aren't really that interesting. I don't know that this one is but thought some of our blog visitors who haven't seen Zoe recently would be interested in how chatty she's become (though when we took this video she was a bit more interested in her Playdough than in answering our questions). She's been speaking in sentences since she was 18 months and now at 22 months she's quite the chatterbox. She also loves to sing and I'll try to get some singing video soon.

Bronx Zoo

We all had a great day at the Bronx Zoo. Zoe especially loved the children's zoo where everything was her own height. Zoe took a special interest in the polar bear who was in a particularly playful mood when we were there. She is still a bit afraid of large animals when they are very close such as in the petting zoo so we went through that part very quickly.

Taking a snack break at playgroup

They Might Be Giants concert in the Park

Zoe had a great time at this concert in Prospect Park. She loved dancing and blowing bubbles.

Balloon Saloon

This local store has some really fun things outside this time of year. We love the contrast of the New York City street and the tropical paradise!

swimming

Zoe had a great time swimming in Uncle Mitch and Aunt Leslie's pool.

4th of July

Zoe had a lot of fun at a party on the 4th. She had her first Italian ice which she called a "cold cupcake."

fireworks

After the party we headed down to the park to see the fireworks. Zoe was really wired after one cupcake and one "cold cupcake." We got some great pictures. She crashed just as the fireworks started and it was time to head home but we had fun anyhow.

Farmer's Market

Now that it's summer we spend a lot of time at the farmer's markets -one of Zoe's favorite Saturday AM activities.
