another garden fairy princess play

As all of our fans know Zoe has long been obsessed with playing dress-up. In fact, many of the clothes she wears are actually her dress-up clothes (though they might just look like strange outfit choices). We often end up putting on a "garden fairy princess play." We all have to put on costumes and Zoe directs us in the activities which usually involve growing a magical garden, eating pink cupcakes and chasing away dragons and witches (the dragons tend to walk away and the witches fly). If Jeff is home he is the handsome prince and of course us gals are garden fairy princesses! The fact that Lilia is becoming more and more involved in the plays is promising. I keep hoping that I won't have to wear a costume one of these days and can just be in the audience.

animals!

Lilia loves the zoo. During our recent morning trip to the zoo while Zoe was at school we were able to visit the petting zoo. For some reason Zoe has hated petting zoos since she was a baby.

ballerina

Zoe recently started ballet lessons and LOVES them! She asks daily if it's "ballet day" and claims that she can't wait for ballet day because she just "loves ballet sooooooo much." Here she is waiting for class to begin.

Chenery Park

We love going to restaurants as a family but we usually stick to sushi, Indian or something very, very casual (and loud as Lilia has some good pipes on her!). We had heard that this restaurant is very accommodating to kids/families. On their website they say that they "teach kids to eat in restaurants with Mom and Dad." We were anxious to check it out. When we got there it seemed really fancy/formal/white table cloth -not somewhere we'd usually be comfortable taking our kids and we considered leaving but knew it would be difficult to find another restaurant nearby. Much to our surprise we were seated in an area which was part of the main room yet separate enough that a little noise wasn't going to bother anyone. There were other kids and even a baby there! It was great -we all loved it and can't wait to go back!

a balmy January morning

We've had some incredible weather lately!

These two get along so well! There is rarely a time that I pick Zoe up from school that they aren't playing together. Here they are together at a birthday party for twin girls in their class.

I love you
